Seefeld Tirol
Seefeld is a little village in the Tirol and known as a popular holiday
destination for walking holidays in the summer, and winter sports in
cold season.
Seefeld is located in the Eastern direction from Innsbruck, close to
the German border, on the watershed between the rivers of Inn and Isar.
Seefeld is an important place for cross-country skiing. The Nordic
events during the Winter Olympics in Innsbruck in 1964 and 1976 were
both times hosted in Seefeld. But also World Cup competitions for the
Nordic events were hosted here a lot of times.
The alpine skiing area is small and most appropriate for beginners. The
terrain itself is quite good and there is good access to other
facilities (walks, shops and the Olympia swimming complex).
The first time Seefeld was mentioned in a document qas in 1022. The
church of St. Oswald turned to a place of pilgrimage in 1384. The story
tells about a consecrated wafer which turned red like blood.
